what we do

Plant services, end to end

Design, supply, installation and ongoing care across Sydney, the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Central Coast — for gardens and interiors, homes and workplaces. Pick a single service, or let us handle the whole journey.

Garden & landscape design

Thoughtful planting design for outdoor spaces — courtyards, gardens, entrances and commercial grounds. We read the light, soil and aspect of your site, factor in Sydney's temperate conditions and how you actually use the space, then deliver a clear planting plan and species list you can build from.

Residential & commercial

Indoor plantscaping

Interior greenery for offices, cafés, hotels, showrooms and homes. From statement floor plants to curated desktop and shelf displays, we choose species that thrive in your indoor light and match the look you're after.

Interiors & workplaces

Plant health consultation

Plants that keep dying in the same spot are telling you something. We come with a light meter and a moisture meter and diagnose it properly — light at plant height, what's actually happening at root level, drainage, airflow, aspect, pests — then give you a written verdict and a plan. Sometimes that means new planting; often it just means moving two things and changing how they're watered. Either way you'll know why, with numbers.

One-off · Diagnostic

Supply & installation

We source healthy, well-grown stock and install it properly — pots, planters, soil, drainage and placement all handled. You get a finished space that's ready to enjoy, with nothing left for you to figure out.

Done for you

Maintenance & care plans

Scheduled visits to water, feed, prune, dust, check plant health and swap out anything past its best. Bars and cafés we service before opening; offices we do through the day, quietly enough that most people barely notice. Every visit is photographed and logged against the individual plant — and each quarter you get a clear summary of what's thriving, what we're watching and anything we replaced.

Ongoing

Plant hire

Flexible plant rental for offices and events — all the greenery, none of the commitment. We deliver, arrange, maintain and rotate the plants, so the space always looks fresh without you owning a thing.

where we work

Four regions, four different growing conditions

We take on work across Sydney, the Illawarra, the Southern Highlands and the Central Coast — and we treat them as the genuinely different places they are.

Coastal Sydney is warm temperate: the tropical-looking palette people ask for works, but it's a curated choice rather than something the climate hands you, and it slows right down over winter. The Southern Highlands sits high enough for real frosts, which rules out a lot of that material and opens up a cool-climate palette — maples, hellebores, deciduous magnolia — that struggles down on the coastal plain. The Illawarra catches more rain and holds moisture off the escarpment. Western Sydney gets frosts the eastern suburbs never see.

Getting that wrong is how plants die slowly and expensively. So the species list changes with the zone you're actually in — and if you're near the edge of a region, tell us your suburb and we'll say plainly what will and won't hold up there.

how it's potted

Two ways to pot an office plant

Every indoor planter comes down to a decision nobody mentions until something dies: does the plant go straight into the planter, or stay in its own pot inside it? Both are legitimate. They fail in different ways — so we pick per site and tell you which one you're getting.

Planted straight in

The planter is sealed and lined, the plant goes in with fresh mix, and the surface is finished with mulch or a decorative top dressing.

Best for statement plants and reception pieces, where the finish has to look built-in rather than assembled.

The catch: a sealed planter has no drainage. Water that goes in stays in, so volumes have to be judged rather than guessed, and root trouble stays invisible until it's advanced. Replacing the plant later means excavating it.

How we manage it: a drainage layer beneath the mix, watering by measured volume rather than by eye, and a moisture meter at root depth on every visit — not a finger in the top of the soil.

Best finish

Left in its grow pot

The plant stays in the nursery pot it was grown in — drainage holes and all — sitting inside the decorative planter on a riser, with the gap concealed by a collar and top dressing.

Best for most office planting, and anywhere plants might be rotated, moved or swapped.

The catch: there's more to hide. The gap has to be dressed properly or it looks like a bucket in a box, and whatever drains through has to be emptied rather than left sitting under the roots.

Why we usually prefer it: you can lift the plant to check its roots and its weight, water to what the plant needs rather than what the planter allows, and replace something that's struggling in minutes instead of rebuilding the whole display.

Best for the plants

If you want one answer: for most offices we use grow pots inside the planters, and save direct planting for feature pieces where the look has to be seamless and the position is good enough to support it. What we won't do is pick the one that's quicker for us and leave you to find out which it was.

care plans

Three ways to keep it thriving

Every plan is quoted for your space and the plants in it. What changes between them is how often we're there and how much we take off your hands.

We take on a limited number of maintenance clients at a time, so that every scheduled visit actually happens. If we can't service your space properly at the frequency you need, we'll tell you that rather than sign you up.

Care plans start at $140 a month. Where yours lands depends on how many plants there are, how often we visit, and how far we travel — a handful of hardy plants serviced monthly sits near that floor; a full office on fortnightly care sits well above it. You'll get the number itemised before anything starts. More on how we quote →

Not after ongoing care? That's completely fine — plenty of clients have us design and install, then look after it themselves. We'll leave you with clear care notes either way.

common questions

Good to know

How much does it cost?

Care plans start at $140 a month, and where yours lands depends on the number of plants, how often we visit and how far we travel. Design and installation is quoted per job, because a few statement plants for a courtyard is a very different piece of work to a full office fit-out — the first visit is free and there's no obligation. Being straight with you: florascape isn't the cheapest option in Sydney and doesn't try to be — we use well-grown stock, specify for the long term, and take on fewer projects so each gets proper attention. What you will get is an itemised quote with plants, pots, labour and any ongoing care listed separately, so you can see exactly where the money goes and decide what's worth it.

I've seen plants advertised from $5 a week. Why are you more?

Because it's a different service, and you deserve to hear that plainly rather than have us pretend the cheaper option doesn't exist. Those packages are real: usually a small number of standard plants on a volume service run, with whoever is rostered that day. That model works, and if it covers what you need, take it — we'll tell you so. What you're paying us for is different. Species chosen for the light your space actually gets rather than what's on the truck that morning, the same person on every visit, a written and photographed record of what was done, and anything that fails replaced free while you're on a care plan. Our care plans start at $140 a month.

Do you plant straight into the planter, or leave the plant in its pot?

Either, and it's worth deciding deliberately. Planting straight into a sealed planter looks the best — nothing reads as assembled — but there's no drainage, so watering has to be measured rather than eyeballed and swapping the plant later means digging it out. Leaving the plant in its grow pot inside the decorative planter is usually better for the plant: water drains away from the roots, we can lift it to check how it's doing, and anything struggling can be replaced in minutes. The trade-off is that the gap has to be dressed properly and any drained water emptied. For most offices we use grow pots and save direct planting for feature pieces — and we'll tell you which one your quote is for.

Do I have to sign up for ongoing maintenance?

Not at all. Plenty of clients have us design and install, then look after things themselves — we'll leave you with clear care notes either way. Maintenance is there if you'd rather not think about it, and you can start or stop a care plan whenever you like.

When do you visit? Will it disrupt us?

Hardly at all. Bars, cafés and restaurants we service before you open, since nobody wants a watering can out during service. Offices we do through the working day, but quietly and around the floor — nothing needs moving and nobody gets interrupted. Most people barely notice we've been in. Residential visits we arrange to suit you, whether you're home or out.

How do I know the work is actually being done?

Because it's written down and photographed. Every plant we install goes on file with its species, position, light conditions and pot, and every visit is logged against it with photos — what we did, what we noticed, how it looked when we left. Since we work unobtrusively — and whoever approves the invoice often isn't the person who saw us — that record is how the work stays visible to the people paying for it. Clients on a care plan get a plain-English summary each quarter covering what's thriving, what we're keeping an eye on, and anything we replaced along with the reason. For commercial sites that summary doubles as the paperwork you need to justify the spend internally.

What happens to plants you take away?

They don't go in the skip. Anything that comes out of a space — outgrown, past its best for that spot, or left behind after a refit — gets cut back, repotted and given time to recover, then rehomed to someone who wants it or brought into another job. Pots and planters get reused the same way. And on the rare occasion a plant is genuinely beyond saving, it gets composted properly and that compost goes back into growing healthy plants — so nothing is wasted either way. It also works in your favour at quoting time: if your space already has plants and planters, we'll work out what's worth keeping before suggesting you buy anything new.

What if a plant dies?

On a maintenance plan we replace anything that fails at no extra cost — keeping your greenery looking its best is the whole point of the plan. On install-only jobs we still stand behind our plant choices, so if something struggles soon after planting, tell us and we'll make it right.

My space doesn't get much light. Can you still help?

Almost always, yes — and we'll know for certain rather than guessing, because we can put a meter on it rather than form an impression. Eyes adjust to dim rooms; meters don't. Low light narrows the options rather than ruling plants out, and choosing well for dim corners is a big part of the job. If a spot genuinely won't support anything living, the reading will say so and we'll tell you honestly rather than sell you something that's going to fail.

Which areas do you service?

We work with residential and commercial clients across Sydney, the Illawarra, the Southern Highlands and the Central Coast. Those are genuinely different growing conditions — the Southern Highlands gets real frosts and suits a cool-climate palette that struggles on the coast, while the Illawarra holds more moisture coming off the escarpment — so what we specify changes with the zone you're actually in. Send through your suburb and we'll confirm we can reach you, and how regularly we could get back for maintenance.

What happens at the first visit?

We come and read the space properly — light levels in the positions you're considering, moisture and drainage on anything already there, which way the glass faces and what's outside it. Then we talk through how you use the area and what you're hoping for. There's no charge and no obligation for that first visit — you'll get a written quote afterwards and can take as long as you like to think it over.
